Justin Wood is Vice President for Strategic Partnerships at the Alliance to End Plastic Waste. He joined the Alliance in April 2020 and is responsible for relationships with external stakeholders, including businesses across the plastic value chain, governments, NGOs, civil society, inter-governmental organisations and development banks, and academia. Justin also oversees the regional strategies of the Alliance, ensuring that the work of the Alliance is tightly linked to the local priorities of different geographies.

Before joining the Alliance, Justin was Head of Asia Pacific and Member of the Executive Committee at the World Economic Forum from 2015 to 2020 where he managed the Forum’s portfolio of activities and relationships in Asia, working on trade and economic integration, human capital development, environmental sustainability and infrastructure financing.

Before 2015, he worked for The Economist Group for 18 years, the last 14 of them in South-east Asia. For eight of those years Justin ran an economic advisory and research service covering the Asia region, and before that he worked as a journalist, covering economics and business across Asia.

Justin is a graduate of the London School of Economics (1992) and has completed postgraduate studies in corporate finance at London Business School (2001) and in public policy at the Harvard Kennedy School (2019). Justin is the author of several books and is a frequent commentator on TV and in the press. He is married with three children.

Erik Solheim is a well known global leader on environment and development as well as an experienced peace negotiator. He served as Norwegian minister of Environment and International Development from 2005-12. During that period he initiated the global program for conservation of rainforests and brought through game changing National legislation - among them the Biodiversity Act and legislation to protect Oslo city forests. He brought Norwegian development assistance to 1%, the highest in the world.

Erik has been chair of the OECD Development Assistance Committee (the main body of world donors) as well as Executive Director of UN Environment. He led the peace efforts in Sri Lanka as the main negotiator of the peace process and played a vital role in peace efforts in Nepal , Myanmar and Sudan.

Currently he is senior adviser at World Resources Institute and President of the Belt and Road Green Development Institute in Beijing. Erik is Chief Mentor of Global Alliance for Sustainable Planet and Chairman of the Board of Afroz Shah Foundation in Mumbai. He is adviser to April, the world´s largest paper and pulp company in Indonesia, to Aker Horizons, Norways leading green industry corporation and to Norwegian electric battery company Morrow. He serves as chairman of the development roundtable in Green Hydrogen Organization and as a board member of International Hydropower Association. He is cochair of Treelion a green blockchain company in Hong Kong.

Mr. Singh is an Electrical Engineer from NIT and an MBA from IIM Calcutta. He worked in Corporate for ~12 years before joining NITI Aayog as a lateral entrant at the Director level in E-Mobility vertical. He has worked in management positions at Daimler and MAN Truck and Bus India (A Volkswagen Group Company). He has co-authored several reports, including the recently launched report on Battery recycling. He is a senior team member for ACC PLI. He is part of the ETD 51 committee for EV infrastructure standards and the Technical jury for Battery Swapping Standards. He was instrumental in bringing out the Light EV charging standards published in mid of 2021. He is also leading the Battery swapping policy. He was one of the youngest in management at Daimler and also in MAN Trucks and Bus (where he was India’s CFO). He is also a member of the steering cum external expert committee for all CSIR Units.

Ms Sanchita Jindal is post graduate in Chemistry and an M.Tech. in Analytical Chemistry from IIT Delhi. She submitted her Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from IIT Delhi.

After working for 28 years in the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, she has retired from Govt. of India as Adviser (Scientist 'G'). She has a total work experience of 35 years in the field of environment conservation.

For more than 15 years, she was involved with management of Hazardous Chemicals and Wastes and was instrumental in notifying almost all the relevant rules mainly on Management of Solid Waste, Plastic Waste, Bio- Medical Waste, C&D Waste, E-Waste, Utilisation of Fly Ash and Used Batteries besides, MSI Rules-1989, EPPR Rules-1996, HZW Rules-1989, PLI Act and Rules. She was the Member-Secretary of the Expert Groups constituted for finalizing all these Rules of 2016. She was the first one to introduce Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) in Battery Management Rules and then in the rules on E-waste and Plastic waste. She was instrumental in introducing the concept of Resource Recovery and Circular Economy, Extended Producer Responsibility, Co-processing and W2E, Zero Landfills, Polluter-pays-Principle, decentralised waste treatment, 6 Rs and many more into the waste management rules.

She has worked for more than 8 yrs in the field of Environment Impact Assessment and was Member Secretary of Expert Appraisal Committees (EACs) for River Valley and Hydro Power Projects and Thermal Power Projects for environment clearance. She assisted in notifying EIA Notification, 2006; has worked in Industries and Mining Sectors too and has given more than 500 environment clearances.

She has been member of more than 60 Committees of various Ministries, including 8 committees constituted by NGT on waste management.

She has been abroad 18 times representing India for various meetings, including ISWA 2015 (International Solid Waste Association) and presented Country Papers on Hazardous Chemicals and Waste and Solid Waste Management.

Presently, she is consultant to industries for Waste Management and Environment Impact Assessment and an empaneled NABET /QCI Assessor of environmental consultants. She has delivered more than 250 lectures on waste management and EIA.

Paula joined LyondellBasell commercial team in 2010 in Paris, France. Then moved to Rotterdam, Holland and worked in various positions across Sales and Marketing serving a variety of business worldwide with focus on specialty products. In 2018 started a new position as Manager Circular Economy part of LyondellBasell sustainability team driving the Circular Economy ambition for the company. Recently joining the newly formed Circular and Low Carbon solutions team and she and her team are responsible for the marketing and commercial development of the most recent LyondellBasell product family Circulen; driving the growth of the brand and new business models in the market in alignment with the company sustainability strategy and long-term business objectives.

Paula holds a Masters degree in business administration and management – from the Polytechnic University of Valencia, Spain and an Executive MBA from HEC Paris, France with an Energy Advance Certificate from HEC Qatar Foundation in Doha, Qatar and ESMT in Berlin, Germany.

Dr. Michael Lacey is the Global Lead of Tricon Energy Ltd for their Sustainable business and is based out of Houston, Texas in the USA.

He joined Tricon Energy Limited in January 2022 to launch the new Sustainable products business line.

Prior to his current assignment, Mike worked with ExxonMobil for 20 years in a variety of technical and commercial roles living in the U.S., Brazil, and Singapore.

Mike was born and raised in Houston, Texas. He received his B.S. degree in Chemistry from Texas A&M University and a Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he met his wife and fellow chemist. Mike and Alechia have 4 children who keep them busy when not at work.

Professor D. D. Kale is a Provost of the PlastIndia University. He is also an Honorary Chancellor at the Polymerupdate Academy. He is a Chemical Engineer. He obtained his Ph. D. from the University of Salford, UK. He has a teaching experience over last 40 years. He retired from University of Mumbai’s Department of Chemical Technology, UDCT, Mumbai in 2005 as a Professor of Polymer Technology and as a Head of the Department of Polymer Engineering.

He is a member of high power expert committee to Government of Maharashtra on environmental issues. He is also a member of committee to define single use plastics set up by Ministry of Chemicals and fertilizers, New Delhi. He is on the expert panel for centres of excellence by DCPC.

His research interests are in polymer processing, rheology, product design and recycling. He has guided 28 Ph. D. and 65 Masters Students. He has published more than100 papers in peer reviewed journals. He has one patent to his credit. He has presented papers in many International conferences such as IUPAC and travelled widely. He is associated with many professional bodies such as PLASTINDIA, All India Plastics Manufacturers Association, (AIPMA), IPI and SPE etc.

Professor Kale has trained more than 5000 undergraduate and post graduate students in India and abroad. He has also trained more than 1000 industry personnel. He has authored two books.

Prasad Modak holds B Tech (Civil Engg), M Tech (Environmental Science and Engg) from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay and Doctor of Engg (Environmental Engg) from Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok. His doctoral dissertation was on Optimum Siting of Air Monitors.

Dr Modak was a Professor at Centre for Environmental Science & Engineering at IIT Bombay (1984-1994) and later as Professor (Adjunct) at the Center for Technology Alternatives in Rural Areas (CTARA) (2009-2017). He is currently the Managing Director of Environmental Management Centre Pvt Ltd. and Director of Ekonnect Knowledge Foundation.

Dr Modak has worked with almost all key UN, multi-lateral and bi-lateral developmental institutions in the world. These include the World Bank, IFC, Asian Development Bank, European Investment Bank, UNEP, UNIDO, UNDP, DFID, Swedish and Dutch Embassies in Delhi etc and intergovernmental organizations such as the Asian Productivity Organization, Tokyo. Apart from Government of India and various State Governments, Dr Modak’s advice is sought by Governments of Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Mauritius, Thailand and Vietnam.

Dr Modak was a member of Indian Resources Panel at Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change and currently is a Member of Task Force on Sustainable Public Procurement at the Ministry of Finance and of the Advisory Committee on G20 India Presidency - Circular Economy set up by Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change.

Dr Modak has published several books on environmental management. His book on EIA for Developing Countries was published by UN University (1999) and later reprinted by Oxford University Press (2005). Later, this book was translated in Chinese and Japanese. His book “Environmental Management Towards Sustainability” was published in December 2017 with CRC Press of Taylor and Francis Group. His latest book on Practicing Circular Economy for the CRC Press was released in June, 2021.

Rajesh Ayapilla is industry veteran with over 24 years of professional experience across various roles and organizations. Coming from a technical background, I have managed and headed large scale projects across multiple areas of sustainability and CSR.

He also represent Coca-Cola in various industry bodies like CII, FICCI and am a working member of various national committees on water and other sustainability areas.

He is an office bearer of industry associations like PACE and CSSPL which are engaged in the field of plastic waste management.

Dr. Yogendra Saxena holds a Bachelor’s degree in Bio-chemical Engineering from Harcourt Butler Technological Institute, Kanpur and a Master’s in Fermentation Technology from the prestigious University Department of Chemical Technology, Bombay. He has also earned his Doctorate in the field of Environment Management.

With more than four decades of experience in the area of EHS and Corporate Sustainability, Dr. Saxena has led the sustainability agenda at leading Indian Corporates Tata Power, Jubilant Life Sciences, Ambuja Cements as well as multilateral organisations such as United Nations Development Programme and Central Pollution Control Board. A sustainability leader of international repute, Dr Saxena has been instrumental in several key policy advocacy initiatives, leading a diverse stakeholder base, representing businesses, governments, academia, civil society, etc.

Dr. Saxena superannuated as the Chief Sustainability Officer of Tata Power, wherein he led Sustainability, Corporate Environment, Biodiversity and CSR functions for the organisation including it’s major national and international subsidiaries. He also served as a Director on Board of Chemical Terminal Trombay Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Power, a Trustee on Board of Tata Power Community Development Trust (TPCDT) and as the Managing Trustee of the Mannat Foundation. Post his superannuation, Dr. Saxena is supporting and hand-holding corporates and other non-profit organisations in an advisory capacity. Currently Tusar is working as a Corporate Head of EHS and Plastic waste management in Dabur India Limited (India & SAARC Countries). He handles the EPR implementation and corporate environment, sustainability, safety management, risk assessment, legal compliance like CGWA, PCB related matter &Internal auditor for ISO 14001 & ISO 45001 and Implementation of Pre & Post PET recycling projects & also handling Green field projects.

Tusar has a proven track record of planning, designing, and implementing comprehensive EHS management system and procedures to prevent incidences of environmental pollution, health hazards and accidents. As a EHS Professional, he has been associated with various companies like Indian Acrylics, ISGEC, Hindustan Coco Cola, Nestle India, Punj Lloyd ltd and Bhartia Electric limited. At present Tusar is a founding member of WeCare Society and PET Packaging Association & AARC also. Ms Kiran Sarkar is a environment graduate and completed her Environmental Law from National Law School. Ms Kiran Sarkar has been working with Mahindra since 2007. She currently leads the sustainbility work in M&M. During her tenure with Mahindra she has worked in various domains of sustainability across value chains.

Kiran specialises in a diverse portfolio of renewable energy, water and Energy resource efficiency, watershed recharge management, waste minimisation and recycling, enterprise risks and mitigation, carbon positive efforts, employees health and safety, road safety, environment assurance etc. She has expertise in ESG Disclosures, reporting and rating.

She is a member of the audit practitioner team of CII and a member of working group of FICCI Water mission. Western region. She has been recognised as an Emerging Sustainability Leader of the year by Sustainability Outlook magazine.

Rahul Nene is a Mechanical Engineer with a post-graduation in Sustainability Management from NITIE, Mumbai, with additional certifications on Renewable Energy Procurement from Imperial College, London and the NEBOSH – International General Certificate. He has about 12 years of experience working in the oil & gas, FMCG, technology and chemical sectors.

A major part of Rahul’s earlier work experience comprised a stint with L'Oréal India, where he was responsible for managing their sustainability and safety programs in both research and operations. His latest stint was with Pidilite Industries where he was the Corporate Sustainability Head.

Currently, Rahul is the Head of Sustainability at Huhtamaki India, a global leader in flexible packaging. The job involves strategizing and implementing ESG and Sustainability actions across the operations of the organization. Rahul’s mandate also includes managing ESG disclosures and initiatives at a corporate level. Mr. Subramanian is an alumnus of the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) where he graduated with a Masters Degree in Accounting and Finance. He also holds an undergraduate degree in engineering from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS). During his professional tenure, he secured accreditations from the University of Oxford (on Climate Emergency Programme and Corporate Sustainability Programme), and the Kellogg Graduate School of Management (on Value Based Management). He is also a certified credential holder from the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB).

A post graduate in Packaging Technology & Business Management with almost 20 years of experience in packaging development & research in pharmaceuticals and FMCG industries.

Anu is an internationally recognized leader in the ESG domain, with a rich experience of over two decades. She has worked extensively in Low Carbon Technologies & Emission Trading, Corporate Sustainability, Corporate Social Responsibility, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and Climate Change mitigation.

Pranshu is the Founder of Karo Sambhav which designs and implements transformative Circular and EPR solutions by collaborating with producers/brands. Karo Sambhav has been creating a grass-root ecosystem to set up robust India-wide solutions on collection, recycling and secondary material management of multiple types of waste including e-waste, plastics waste, batteries waste and glass waste. Its technology platform and systems foster good governance, fairness, trust, transparency, and traceability.

Prior to Karo Sambhav he has worked as Director, Digital Learning Strategy for Microsoft, and as Head, Sustainability for Nokia. He was conferred the ‘Social Entrepreneur of the Year 2021 India’ award by the Schwab Foundation, a sister organization of World Economic Forum. He is a Aspen Fellow, a Ashoka Fellow, Chevening Gurukul Fellow, and a Aspire Circle Fellow. Pranshu has a Master’s in Environmental Management and Policy from International Institute for Industrial Environmental Economics (IIIEE), Sweden.

Preeta is the Senior Director of the Credibility & Business Insights Group (CBIG), ESG and SME at Dun & Bradstreet India. She has been with D&B India for more than 16 years. She is the chairperson of the Anti-Sexual harassment committee and leads diversity for D&B India.

Prior to joining D&B, she was the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Business Asia Consulting Pvt. Ltd. She is the Founding Director and Member – Secretary of the Association of Finance Professionals of India. She is also a member of different regional CII committees on MSMEs etc.

A Graduate from NUS Business School-Singapore, he set up Tamil Nadu’s 1st and one of India’s earliest commercial scale biodiesel manufacturing unit in 2008 and transacted more than 40000 MT of biofuels and wastes as an individual entrepreneur before starting up Buyofuel.

Kishan, has a 360 Degree view of the biofuels and organic wastes sector as he has been a biofuel manufacturer, organic wastes trader, biofuels trader and bulk fuel consumer, and has worked closely with the biofuels sector across India, Middle East and South East Asia. Ltd. as Chief Sustainability Officer for India & South West Asia. He has spent 17years with Coca Cola and prior to Coca Cola, has worked with Gillette and Eicher for about 10 years.

Mr. Saha’s role as Chief Sustainability Officer in Coca Cola has been focused on managing stakeholders & relationships with Govt. officials, representing the company in industry bodies like CII, leading industry forums and shaping conversations on social issues of national scale like waste management, policy advocacy, sustainability, risk management & business continuity.

He has played the lead role in implementing ERP and change management initiatives – SFA/ Network Optimization/Remote monitoring, order & delivery of large field force. Dr. Karan Thakur serves as the Group Sustainability Lead & Vice President – Public Affairs for the Apollo Hospitals Group, Asia’s largest integrated healthcare provider. Dr. Thakur is a seasoned healthcare administrator with wide experience in the field of health policy, hospital operations, projects, health communications and healthcare sustainability.

In his current role, Dr. Thakur is part of the Group’s expansion initiatives, public policy engagement & sustainability initiatives. Based out of New Delhi, Dr. Thakur is a well-respected columnist and podcaster who has covered subjects ranging from health policy, healthcare reforms and growth and development of the Indian healthcare ecosystem.

Dr. Thakur is an alumnus of the Manchester Business School, University of Manchester, Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore and National Law University, New Delhi. Nandini works at the CII-ITC Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Development, where she initiated work in circular economy and resource efficiency, and has led this activity for over four years now. She leads the India Plastics Pact, a voluntary, business-led platform aimed to create a circular economy for plastic packaging, launched on the 3rd of September, 2021.

At the Centre, the circular economy team works at the interface of policy, business and science, with the aim of providing data-backed scientific evidence for business and policy decisions.

Within an MoU between CII and the Norwegian Institute of Water Research, NIVA, she spent a year in Oslo, over 2021-22, bringing specific expertise in plastic waste management on voluntary commitments by Indian industry, contributed to Nordic Report #4 on Sustainability Criteria in a Global Agreement on Plastic Pollution, and co-led on the India component of a project for a multi-national on plastic value chains.

Before joining CII, she was a faculty member and researcher at TERI University, New Delhi, for over a decade, and was a Fulbright scholar in 2012 at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA, pursuing a keen interest and belief in systems thinking and system dynamics. Nandini has a doctorate in atmospheric chemistry and a master’s degree in environmental chemistry.

Mr. Sanjay Khajuria brings with him a rich and diverse experience of working with Nestlé in different roles in and outside India. Currently he serves as Director, Corporate Affairs at Nestlé India.

Amor Kool is an Environmental Strategist working on various aspects of sustainable development. His experience varies from practicing core architecture, construction management, sustainable development, ESG initiatives; to matters pertaining to climate resiliency, adaptation and sustainable finance. He is Technical Committee Member to IS 15883 Construction Management, Panel Member to National Building Code of India 2016 on Part 8 Section 1 Lighting and Natural Ventilation, Part 11 Approach to Sustainability and Part 4 Fire and Life Safety. He’s also been a Steering committee member for Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) Eco-Niwas Samhita.

He practiced Architecture and moved into sustainable development through design interventions in projects like DLF Mall of India, Lemon Tree Hotels, King Khaled Medical City, Wave Hi-Tech City to name a few. He travelled across India with Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) team to educate and promote National Building Code of India 2016.

He also worked with IIFL Home Finance as ESG Lead and Green Value Partner Head to structure the sustainable development through affordable housing finance. Raised fund under SUNREF program managed by National Housing bank (NHB) and funded by Agence Française de Développement.

In his current role, he’s creating the ESG framework in infrastructure sector establishing benchmarking and implementation strategies, including roads, water distribution network and waste water treatment facility.

Harsha Reddy is the Global Head of Sustainability Reporting and Disclosures at Indorama Ventures PCL (IVL), where he oversees the company’s sustainability strategy including decarbonization and net zero carbon roadmap; external and internal reporting; external assessments and ratings; benchmarking against industry leaders and peers,. He is driving the development and implementation of policies and processes at IVL’s operations worldwide and delivering on the company’s sustainability commitments.

Harsha has played a pivotal role in IVL’s listing on RobecoSAM's Dow Jones Sustainability Index in the Chemicals Industry for the last four years and achieving other prominent sustainability recognitions with CDP, MSCI, Sustainalytics, FTSE4Good, Bloomberg and EcoVadis. Harsha was also instrumental in securing sustainable finance over USD 1.3 billion by IVL from ESG funds and institutions including sustainability linked bonds.

He initiated several sustainability practices and has been working to further drive environmental, social and economic sustainability in IVL’s corporate DNA ensuring a consistent and proactive approach as the company expands its global operations.

Dr. Anand Hiremath is a Civil Engineer and holds a master’s degree in Environmental Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IIT Guwahati), India. He spent six years carrying out extensive research and prepared a doctoral thesis on: Integrated Risk Assessment Framework for Development of Best Practices in Ship Recycling. Dr. Anand Hiremath was awarded Doctorate Degree in the year 2016 for his research work on Ship Recycling by the IIT Bombay, India. In addition, he has a diploma in Industrial Safety and is qualified Lead Auditor for ISO 45001:2018, ISO 9001:2015 & ISO 14001:2015. He is also a DNV certified Hazmat Expert (IHM specialist). He has also completed International General Certification course from NEBOSH UK.

Dr. Anand Hiremath has been with GMS for the last seven years as a Green Recycling Specialist, based in Bhavnagar, India, where he works closely with select yards ensuring compliance with the guidelines of the Hong Kong Convention (HKC) for Safe and Environmentally Sound Recycling of Ships. He is the Chief Sustainable Officer at GMS. Dr. Anand is in-charge of project execution at ground level. Dr. Hiremath is also the Course Director for the Ship Recycling course offered by the Lloyd’s Maritime Academy, London.

Dr. Anand has participated in several projects on Green Ship Recycling, including the European Union FP6 funded project (DIVEST) and has conducted a study on Preventive Technological Interventions for Improving Environmental Attributes of Ship Recycling (Green Alang Initiative) funded by the Gujarat Maritime Board, Government of Gujarat, India. Dr. Hiremath’s research has been published in scientific journals in USA, Europe, UK and India. Dr. Hiremath published the first practical handbook on ship recycling, entitled: “The Green Handbook: A Practical Checklist to Monitor the Safe and Environmentally Sound Recycling of Ships”.

Under his supervision, more than 70 IHM surveys were conducted & 100 end-of-life vessels (of different types) were successfully recycled

Mr. Rajesh is currently the Chief Quality and Sustainability Officer at Licious. A fast-growing recently turned unicorn start-up having previously served as its Senior VP of Quality, Food Safety, and R&D.

Pratibha is the Chief Sustainability officer of Lucro Plastecycle, an Indian waste collector, recycler and product manufacturer that is a pioneer in developing post-consumer recyclate products, to achieve Circular Economy for plastics in India. She is a seasoned Marketing professional and sustainability advocate.

Sangeeta Robinson is the Chief Sustainability Officer for PVR Limited. A Post-graduate in Communications from the Punjab University, India; she has two and a half decades of rich and diverse experience leading Communications, Sustainability and Inclusion at the Tata Group, Cummins, IBM and PVR Cinemas. She has been widely recognised for her innovative approach to communications and sustainable value-creating strategies.

More recently, she has spearheaded accessible entertainment for people with disabilities in India, by addressing infrastructure constraints and use of enabling technologies. She has also been actively involved in influencing policy in favour of creating accessible content for Indian cinema and pushing for digital content accessibility as per WCAG 2.1 across education and employability sectors.

Sangeeta is a co-author on SDG 8 and a CISR Expert candidate with SHERPA Institute, USA. She has been Lead Assessor with the CII-ITC Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Development (CESD) for nearly a decade. She has led teams to assess companies against stringent Sustainability Excellence Standards. Her hands-on approach to Social Responsibility has resulted in high-impact projects adhering to the highest standards. Her Communications portfolio consists of numerous innovative and engaging campaigns and initiatives designed to build brands, change perceptions and behaviours, enhance corporate image and engage and motivate employees.

In her personal capacity, Sangeeta works for the welfare of stray and destitute animals and is an ardent animal lover. She lives in the National Capital Region of Delhi with her Creative Director husband, two daughters and their pets.
